A commercial development is a major investment involving a great deal of matters for consideration. Property developers need to be sure of receiving the best information possible to ensure expedient project completion within budget.
Where appropriate, consultants such as engineers and quantity surveyors are used to provide the specialist services commonly required for commercial development design.
Since 1984 David Todd Ltd have been designing commercial buildings and have gained a reputation for completing the work economically and with pleasing aesthetic appeal.
Some of the larger projects ($1 - $2 million plus) have included the design and management of:
- Irvines Freightlines complex in Pascoe Street, now Wilders.
- Pak'N Save and associated upgrade of the Richmond Mall.
Other projects (of a smaller scale $300,000 - $750,000) have included:
- The refurbishment of the old Nelson City Council building next to the 1903 site at the top of Trafalgar Street.
- The retail outlets of Hurst & Taylor, Power Store (formally Retravision), Konica Minolta, Mag & Turbo Warehouse, Noel Leemings Queen Street Richmond, Ezy Kitchens Kotua Pl Stoke, Aon Nelson Office, Midas Mufflers and the 3 shops on the 155 Trafalgar Street site.
- The new premises of Nelson Packaging in Merton Place Tahunanui was a design and build project with Scott Construction Ltd.
Specialist buildings have included:
- Education buildings.
- Church complexes.
- The Motor vehicle outlets of Bowater Toyota, Bowater Honda, Mitsubishi, Havens of Nelson and MS Ford in Haven Rd.
